Kolkata Calling began as a simple post—a heartfelt reflection on returning to our beloved city after years away. That post resonated, and the response was undeniable: there was a homegrown craving for stories, opportunity, and connection rooted in Kolkata.
What started as a movement on LinkedIn blossomed into a vibrant community—growing into tens of thousands of followers, a dedicated WhatsApp channel, a beloved podcast series on Youtube, comics that capture our city’s quirks, and curated job listings that bridge talent and opportunity.
Today, on Independence Day 2025, Kolkata Calling takes its most significant step yet: launching its own platform—kolkatacalling.com—a one-stop hub designed to amplify the stories, voices, and dreams of Kolkata.
With her background in HR & leadership, Sneha brings a deep love for improving the city’s talent landscape and helping build the “employment brand of Kolkata”. She takes a deep interest in helping young and mid-career professionals prepare for successful careers through coaching and mentoring. She’s the architect who laid the foundation stone of our community, that galvanised our resolve into an inclusive platform, ensuring every voice finds its place in the movement.
The spark that ignited the birth of Kolkata Calling began with Subid’s personal return to the city after 12 years. He is a strong believer in the city’s potential to reclaim its lost glory and pride, and change the negative narrative and perception about Kolkata. With 14 years of experience weaving together business, HR, and technology—this Kolkata boy with his love for the city’s culture and stories, shapes the platform’s vision and mission with clarity of purpose—rooted in gratitude, built for impact, and fueled by unwavering hope.
Mainak is the force powering the Kolkata Calling community, from behind the scenes. With a knack for social media and community engagement, he has been tirelessly working to bring engaging content to the platform—news, podcasts, job boards, newsletters, and comics together in one living, breathing space—making “Kolkata Calling” feel like home.
