West Bengal’s manufacturing ecosystem has received a significant boost as Jindal (India) Ltd announced the completion of its ₹1,500 crore capital expenditure programme in the state with the commissioning of a new high-speed continuous colour coating line at its manufacturing complex in Ranihati, Howrah.

The latest commissioning marks another major industrial investment in Bengal and comes just months after the company operationalised a galvanising coating line, cold rolling mill, and pickling facility in February as part of its broader expansion strategy in the state.

Jindal (India) Ltd, part of the BC Jindal Group, manufactures coated flat steel products, pipes, and aluminium foil from its facilities in Howrah. With the newly commissioned line, the company is expected to significantly strengthen its downstream steel manufacturing capacity.

According to the company, the new facility at Ranihati is capable of producing 2.75 lakh tonnes annually and is equipped to manufacture a wide range of coated steel products using polyester, epoxy, PVC, and Teflon paint coatings.

The expansion is also expected to improve the company’s overall production capacity substantially. Jindal (India) projects its manufacturing output to rise to 60,000 tonnes per month, which could potentially contribute to a 75% growth in revenue by FY27.

In a statement, the company said the commissioning of the new line reflects its commitment to catering to India’s growing infrastructure and manufacturing demands.

Coated flat steel products currently account for nearly 70% of Jindal (India)’s total production, making this expansion an important milestone for both the company and West Bengal’s industrial landscape.

At a time when discussions around industrial growth in Bengal continue, investments of this scale signal continued confidence in the state’s manufacturing potential and infrastructure ecosystem.
