Kolkata has added another global name to its fast-growing Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem with the inauguration of a new GCC by SEI, a leading US-based fintech and financial services technology company.
This marks SEI’s second GCC location in India, reaffirming the city’s rising importance as a strategic destination for global financial and technology firms.
Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Oaks, Pennsylvania, SEI is a globally respected provider of technology, investment management, and operations solutions. The firm serves financial institutions, investment advisors, and asset managers across the world. As of December 31, 2024, SEI managed or administered approximately $1.6 trillion in assets, underlining its scale and global influence in the financial services sector.
The decision to expand operations in Kolkata reflects growing confidence in the city’s talent pool, cost competitiveness, and mature IT and BFSI ecosystem. Over the past few years, Kolkata has steadily emerged as an attractive hub for GCCs, especially in sectors such as fintech, analytics, digital transformation, and enterprise technology services.
SEI’s new Kolkata GCC is expected to play a key role in supporting its global operations, driving innovation, and delivering high-value technology and operational solutions. The expansion is also likely to generate skilled employment opportunities and further strengthen Kolkata’s positioning as a preferred destination for Global In-House Centres (GICs) in India.
This development adds to the growing list of global firms choosing Kolkata for their India operations and highlights the city’s evolution from a traditional IT services base to a strategic global capability hub.
At Kolkata Calling, we congratulate SEI and its entire team on this important milestone and welcome them to the City of Joy. We look forward to seeing SEI’s continued growth and contribution to Kolkata’s expanding global business ecosystem.
