Backend Developer

Location: Kolkata, West Bengal  •  Experience: 4-7 years  •  Pay: ₹10L– ₹14L CTC

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our product engineering team at Piston Technologies. You will be responsible for building scalable services using ExpressJS and managing performant PostgreSQL databases. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive backend architecture and reliability.

 

Piston Technologies is building the closed-loop payment network for the $250B+ U.S. trucking industry. Our flagship product, PistonPay, is a QR-based fuel payment platform offering seamless controls, dynamic underwriting, and real-time visibility at the pump.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using ExpressJS.
  • Architect, optimize, and manage PostgreSQL databases for high performance.
  • Implement schemas, indexing strategies, and query optimizations.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers for seamless integration.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services.
  • Ensure security best practices including auth mechanisms.
  • Review code, troubleshoot bugs, and improve backend performance.
  • Document solutions and participate in architecture discussions.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of backend development experience.
  • Expertise in PostgreSQL, including query optimization and replication.
  • Proficient in ExpressJS and Node.js.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) – a plus.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Git, testing frameworks, and Agile methodologies.
  • Team collaboration and self-motivation are must-haves.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with microservices architecture.
  • Exposure to caching (e.g., Redis).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
