Kolkata has a new reason to celebrate on the national business stage. In a remarkable show of next-generation leadership, Vikash Lohia has emerged as India’s fastest wealth creator, topping the 2026 ASK Private Wealth Hurun India Successors list.

At the heart of this achievement is Jupiter Wagons, a company with roots in Kolkata that has delivered an extraordinary 152.8x growth in market capitalisation between March 2020 and March 2026, the highest recorded on the list.

This transformation is nothing short of remarkable. What began as a modest railcar business has evolved into a listed enterprise valued at over ₹10,700 crore. Under Vikash Lohia’s leadership as Deputy Managing Director, the company has scaled rapidly, riding India’s growing focus on infrastructure, logistics, and rail modernisation.

The ASK Private Wealth Hurun India Successors list recognises next-generation leaders under the age of 50 who are steering family-owned, publicly listed businesses. It ranks them based on how many times they have grown their company’s market capitalisation over a six-year period, from March 2020 to March 2026.

While several prominent names feature on the list, including leaders from companies like Adani Ports and Sun Pharma, it is Jupiter Wagons that has taken the top spot, highlighting the growing importance of industrial and manufacturing-driven growth stories.

Also sharing the spotlight are Amit Dahanukar of Tilaknagar Industries and Abhyuday Jindal of Jindal Stainless, both of whom have delivered an impressive 52.5x growth multiple, securing the second position jointly.

For Kolkata, this milestone goes beyond a single company’s success. It signals a broader shift, where the city’s legacy industries are being reimagined and scaled by a new generation of leaders. Sectors like rail logistics, manufacturing, and infrastructure, often seen as traditional, are now at the forefront of India’s economic momentum.

As India continues its growth journey, stories like this reinforce Kolkata’s position as a city that is quietly but steadily contributing to the country’s next wave of wealth creation.

Because sometimes, the biggest growth stories aren’t the loudest, they’re built steadily, right here in Kolkata.
