Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens is set to undergo a transformative redevelopment that will enhance its seating capacity, fan experience, and facilities, making it one of the world’s premier cricket stadiums.
Spearheaded by the Cricket Association of Bengal in collaboration with global architecture firm Populous, the project will begin immediately after IPL 2026 and is expected to be completed by 2028.
The redevelopment prioritizes fan experience with scientifically planned seating layouts, unobstructed pitch views, and under-bowl amenities surpassing international standards like the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Green terraces, modular facades, and a potential compression ring roof will ensure a modern, iconic, and environmentally sustainable design.
With an estimated investment of ₹400 crore, this upgrade cements Eden Gardens’ status as a globally recognized sporting destination, preserving its heritage while embracing the future.
The redevelopment reflects Kolkata’s growing importance as a hub for cricket and sports infrastructure in India. From historic IPL clashes to international test matches, Eden Gardens will continue to offer fans a world-class experience, unmatched anywhere in the world.
