Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens, widely known as the Temple of Cricket, is set to undergo a major transformation with a ₹450 crore world-class redevelopment project. The initiative aims to modernise one of the world’s most historic cricket stadiums while preserving its rich legacy.

One of the biggest highlights of the makeover is that Eden Gardens will become India’s first stadium with a Skydeck, offering fans a unique panoramic viewing experience. Post-renovation, the stadium’s capacity is expected to increase to around 84,000 spectators, further cementing its status as one of India’s largest and most iconic sporting venues.

The redevelopment plan also includes the construction of new three-storey galleries across Blocks D to J, significantly improving seating, comfort, and sightlines. Additionally, premium VIP sections with lounges, restaurants, and bars will be introduced, bringing global stadium standards to the City of Joy.

With a targeted completion timeline of 2028, this ambitious upgrade is set to redefine the matchday experience for cricket fans and strengthen Kolkata’s position as a global sporting destination. From historic Test matches to electrifying IPL encounters, Eden Gardens is preparing for a future where legacy meets world-class infrastructure.
