Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are on the verge of a significant ownership change, with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan set to further strengthen his control over the franchise.

According to sources close to the KKR camp, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing to purchase a substantial portion of shares from Jay Mehta’s Mehta Group, which recently put part of its stake up for sale. Earlier reports had hinted at the possible entry of a new co-owner, but it has now emerged that SRK himself will be acquiring the shares, consolidating his position within the franchise.

At present, Shah Rukh Khan owns 55% of Kolkata Knight Riders, while the remaining 45% is held by Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta. While Juhi Chawla will continue to retain her shares, the Mehta Group is expected to keep only a small symbolic stake after the transaction. Once the formalities are completed, Shah Rukh Khan’s ownership is likely to rise to nearly 90%, effectively giving him near-complete control of the three-time IPL champions.

This development comes in the backdrop of an exceptionally successful financial year for Shah Rukh Khan and marks another major milestone in KKR’s journey off the field. Under his leadership, the franchise has grown into one of the most valuable and globally recognised teams in the Indian Premier League.

As fans await official confirmation and timelines for the completion of the process, one thing is clear: Kolkata Knight Riders are set to enter a new chapter, firmly led by the King of Bollywood himself.
