Adani Group to Support Revitalisation of Kumartuli Ghat and Writers’ Building in Kolkata

Adani Group has announced its support for the revitalisation of two significant heritage landmarks in Kolkata, Kumartuli Ghat and the historic Writers’ Building.

The initiative focuses on preserving places that are closely connected with Kolkata’s cultural, architectural and historical identity.

Kumartuli Ghat and Kolkata’s Durga Puja tradition

Kumartuli is one of Kolkata’s most recognisable neighbourhoods and has been home to generations of artisans who create clay idols for Durga Puja.

For decades, the area has been closely associated with the traditional craft of idol-making, with artisans transforming clay into elaborate idols that are worshipped across West Bengal and beyond.

Located along the Hooghly River, Kumartuli Ghat forms an important part of this historic neighbourhood. Its revitalisation will help preserve the surroundings of a place that remains closely connected with Kolkata’s artistic traditions and the city’s Durga Puja culture.

Writers’ Building and Kolkata’s architectural heritage
