West Bengal could soon witness one of its largest private healthcare investments, with the Adani Group considering New Town, Kolkata, for its next Adani Health City. The proposed 1,000-bed integrated healthcare campus is expected to be developed with strategic guidance from the US-based Mayo Clinic and could significantly strengthen advanced healthcare infrastructure in Eastern India.

The Health City is expected to comprise a multi-super-specialty hospital, a medical college, research facilities, and transitional care units, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for patient care, medical education, and clinical research.

The project forms part of the Adani family's ₹60,000 crore social commitment towards healthcare, education, and skill development. While the first Adani Health Cities are currently being developed in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, New Town has emerged as a potential location for the next phase of expansion.

If the proposal materialises, it would rank among the largest private healthcare projects ever announced in West Bengal. The development is expected to improve access to specialised healthcare services, boost medical research, create employment opportunities, and reinforce New Town's growing reputation as a hub for healthcare, education, and innovation.

The proposed investment also complements the rapid transformation of New Town, which has attracted significant investments across information technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, education, and healthcare in recent years. The addition of a world-class integrated Health City would further enhance the region's position as one of Eastern India's fastest-growing urban and economic centres.

According to media reports, the project is currently under consideration, and further details are expected to emerge once plans are finalised.
