One of West Bengal's biggest food processing investments is moving into the execution phase. The foundation stone for Amul's upcoming ₹700 crore dairy processing facility at Sankrail Food Park in Howrah will be laid on July 18, marking a major milestone for the state's dairy and food processing sector.

The ceremony is expected to be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.

Spread across 15 acres, the upcoming facility will be among the largest dairy processing plants in West Bengal. Once operational, it will have the capacity to process 15 lakh litres of milk per day and produce 10 lakh kg of value-added dairy products daily, including dahi, mishti doi, yoghurt, lassi and buttermilk.

The project is expected to strengthen West Bengal's dairy value chain by increasing milk procurement, supporting local dairy farmers, expanding cold-chain infrastructure and creating employment opportunities across production, logistics and distribution.

The facility will also enhance the availability of value-added dairy products across eastern India while reinforcing West Bengal's position as an emerging destination for food processing investments.

The foundation stone ceremony marks the beginning of on-ground execution for Amul's ₹700 crore investment, adding another major industrial project to West Bengal's growing investment pipeline.

As the state continues to attract investments across manufacturing, logistics, food processing and infrastructure, the Amul dairy plant is expected to play a significant role in boosting the region's agro-processing ecosystem and rural economy.
