In a significant boost to West Bengal’s industrial ecosystem, Wacker Chemie AG has successfully completed the second phase of expansion at its production site in Panagarh.
The expansion marks the launch of a state-of-the-art silicone emulsion production complex, complementing the site’s existing silicone rubber manufacturing capabilities. Spread across 15,000 square meters, the new facility is designed to cater to the rapidly growing demand from the cosmetics and personal care industry in India.
The newly operational plant is fully compliant with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines set by the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFfCI). This certification ensures that the products manufactured meet stringent international standards for quality, safety, and consistency.
The facility will produce high-purity silicone emulsions, widely used in skincare, haircare, and other personal care applications, positioning Panagarh as a key node in India’s specialty chemicals value chain.
With this expansion, WACKER significantly strengthens its silicone emulsion production capacity in India. The project is also expected to generate around 60 new jobs, contributing to local employment and economic development in the region.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Christian Kirsten emphasized the importance of the Panagarh facility in the company’s global strategy. He highlighted that the site will deliver world-class, high-purity products tailored to meet the demands of India’s fast-growing markets, particularly in the cosmetics and personal care sectors.
The expansion further reinforces West Bengal’s growing appeal as a manufacturing and investment destination. With global players like WACKER scaling up operations, Panagarh is steadily emerging as a key industrial hub in Eastern India.
As demand for high-quality specialty chemicals continues to rise, investments like these underline Bengal’s potential to play a pivotal role in India’s next phase of industrial growth.
