In a major boost to West Bengal’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has inaugurated the 45-kilometre, signal-free Kalyani Expressway, a transformative road project aimed at enhancing connectivity across North 24-Parganas and Nadia districts.
Built at an approximate cost of ₹2,500 crore, the 4–6 lane corridor is designed to ensure uninterrupted, high-speed travel between Kalyani and Kolkata.

Beyond improved connectivity, the Kalyani Expressway is expected to significantly boost socio-economic development along the corridor. Improved road infrastructure will:
With its modern design featuring elevated corridors and six-lane underpasses at major intersections, the expressway marks a significant step forward in Bengal’s ongoing infrastructure transformation.
As connectivity improves, North 24-Parganas and Nadia are poised to witness accelerated development, making this project not just a road upgrade, but a catalyst for regional progress
