Kolkata’s startup ecosystem continues to produce purpose-driven innovations, and the latest example comes from the rapidly growing elder care sector. MAITYS, a technology-enabled elder care startup, has raised its first angel funding round for an undisclosed amount through Favcy Venture Builders, marking a significant milestone in its growth journey.

Founded in 2020 by Manoj Maity, an alumnus of Jadavpur University, MAITYS operates in India’s emerging “silver economy,” addressing the increasing need for organized and technology-driven elder care solutions. Co-founder Saurav Bhattacharjee and the founding team bring decades of combined corporate experience, which they leveraged to build a scalable and impact-focused venture.

Interestingly, the founders’ entrepreneurial journey began with a preschool venture that did not scale as expected. The learnings from that experience helped them identify a deeper structural gap in India’s elder care ecosystem, a sector witnessing rising demand due to changing family structures, urban migration, and an ageing population.

MAITYS developed its proprietary platform, MAITYS ElderTech, to bridge this gap by offering app-based, on-demand elder care services. The platform enables families to access healthcare coordination, emergency support, and technology-enabled caregiving solutions, ensuring both convenience and reliability for senior citizens and their families.

Starting operations from Kolkata, the startup has already expanded its footprint to more than 30 cities across India, demonstrating strong market acceptance and growing demand for organized elder care services.

With the newly secured funding, MAITYS plans to strengthen its technology infrastructure, enhance city-level operations, and accelerate expansion across the country. The company is working towards achieving a PAN-India presence by 2026 under its ambitious vision, “Har Ghar MAITYS.”

As India’s ageing population continues to grow, startups like MAITYS are redefining caregiving through innovation and technology, once again highlighting how Kolkata-born ventures are building solutions with national relevance and social impact.
