In a major boost to international air connectivity for Eastern India, Qatar Airways has resumed its flight operations between Doha and Kolkata from March 22.
The airline had temporarily suspended services on February 28 amid escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The situation intensified following military actions involving the United States and Israel, and Iran’s subsequent counter-offensive, leading to widespread airspace disruptions across the region. As a precautionary measure, several carriers, including Qatar Airways, halted operations on select routes to ensure passenger safety.
With the situation now stabilising, the resumption of flights comes as a significant relief for passengers travelling between Kolkata and Doha. The route is particularly important for business travellers, students, and the large Indian diaspora in the Middle East, offering seamless global connectivity through Doha, one of the world’s leading aviation hubs.
The restart of this service is also expected to ease travel disruptions faced over the past few weeks, while improving access to international destinations across Europe, the Americas, and beyond via Qatar Airways’ extensive network.
Kolkata continues to strengthen its position as a key aviation gateway in Eastern India, with global carriers reaffirming confidence in the city’s growing demand for international travel.
As flight operations return to normal, passengers can once again benefit from smoother travel plans and enhanced connectivity to the world.
