Kolkata has taken another step forward in strengthening its higher education ecosystem with the launch of a new residential campus by Techno India University at Joka.
The campus has been envisioned as a “School of the Future,” designed to create a world-class learning environment where students can pursue cutting-edge education without having to leave the state.
Located just about 15 minutes from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, the campus offers a premium residential experience combined with a 24/7 learning ecosystem. Surrounded by greenery and five lakes, the campus aims to provide an inspiring environment that blends academics, innovation, and community living.
Students at the new campus will also get opportunities to work on real-world projects with global technology leaders such as Google and IBM, helping them gain industry exposure while studying.
The university has introduced several specialised schools at the Joka campus covering emerging and future-focused domains. These include Emerging Technologies, Digital Business, Entrepreneurship & Economics, Digital Communication, Digital Entertainment, and Design, Fashion & Creative Arts.
In addition, the campus will also host programs in Sustainability & Development, Smart Agriculture & Advanced Fisheries, Allied Healthcare, Psychology, Sports Management & Physical Training, and Policy & Public Administration.
The residential campus has been designed to align with the vision of National Education Policy 2020, encouraging interdisciplinary learning and preparing students for the digital economy.
With the first “firestarter” batch of 2026 set to begin their journey here, the new campus marks an important milestone for higher education in Bengal. The initiative reflects a growing effort to build institutions in Kolkata that can match global standards while remaining rooted in the region.
As Kolkata continues to grow as a hub for innovation, technology, and education, the launch of the Techno India University Joka campus adds another significant chapter to the city’s academic landscape.
