West Bengal to Hand Over Land to 25 Industrialists Within a Month

West Bengal is looking to accelerate industrial development, with the state government set to hand over land to 25 industrialists within the next month.

The move comes as the state steps up efforts to convert industrial proposals into projects on the ground and create a faster environment for new investments.

A major focus is also being placed on reducing approval-related delays. Projects involving investments of more than ₹100 crore will reportedly no longer need separate approvals from municipalities or panchayats. Instead, the government plans to provide a direct single-window mechanism for such projects, aimed at making the approval process faster and easier for investors.

The state has also introduced a land purchase policy under which farmers can voluntarily offer their land for industrial development. A separate land development policy is currently under consideration.

According to the Chief Minister, groundbreaking ceremonies for new factories are now taking place every month across the state. The government is targeting faster industrialisation and stronger economic growth over the next one to two years.

The faster availability of industrial land, combined with simplified approvals, could help West Bengal speed up the implementation of new manufacturing and industrial projects.

For Bengal, the focus now is increasingly shifting from attracting investment proposals to ensuring that projects are executed quickly and begin generating employment and economic activity.

If the planned land handovers and approval reforms are implemented as intended, the coming months could see a faster pace of industrial project execution across West Bengal.
