West Bengal is set to attract a major clean energy investment as AMPIN Energy Transition announces plans to invest over ₹1,000 crore in the state. This strategic move marks a significant milestone for the region’s renewable energy and manufacturing ecosystem.

The proposed investment includes:

  • Around ₹700 crore for setting up a 1–2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility
  • Nearly ₹300 crore for developing solar power plants across West Bengal

The project is expected to generate close to 1,500 direct and indirect jobs, creating new opportunities in manufacturing, operations, and green skill development.

AMPIN already operates with a strong national footprint of 5+ GWp renewable assets across 22 states, spanning solar, wind, battery storage, and hybrid power solutions. Its expansion into West Bengal reflects growing confidence in the state’s industrial policies and its potential to emerge as a key renewable energy hub in Eastern India.

The upcoming manufacturing unit is also expected to serve high-growth sectors such as data centres and large commercial operations that are rapidly transitioning to clean power. This investment will help reduce India’s dependence on imported solar components, strengthen domestic supply chains, and accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy in the region.

This development is more than just an infrastructure project; it is a strong signal of West Bengal’s rising role in India’s green industrial future.
